Dr Ross Perry featured in The Sun Real Life’s video of ‘Mamatox’.
Mamatox is a new term coined to refer to the treatment of ‘Mum face’ using Botox.
‘Mum face’ is a phenomenon which many new mothers can relate to. That rapid ageing that results from having a child or a permanently tired and harassed look.
The patient in the video has Mamatox before returning to work, as she didn’t want to stand out as looking like a new Mum.
Dr Ross Perry explains that a number of treatments choose to have BOTOX® before returning to work from maternity leave. For some, it may be their first experience of the treatment; but for others, as Ross says, there may have been a break in treatment (as BOTOX® is not carried out while pregnant, breastfeeding or indeed trying to conceive).
Dr Ross Perry carries out a light treatment to smooth out frown lines and forehead lines including the ‘elevenses’ – the vertical lines between the eyebrows.
Ross says:
“The nice thing about BOTOX® is that it just relaxes the muscles so it softens the lines, and as a result of softening the muscles, the skin lines over the top of it relax out as well…”
“… The idea here is not to get rid of every single line, but to almost give an effect where it’s just a bit softer and the brow’s a bit higher. We’re not aiming for a completely smooth forehead but just something that looks similar to that really” (Ross demonstrates a smoother forehead by gently stretching the skin across the brow)
