Before and After Case Study – Part 1
These photos show the dramatic before and after results photos after the first session of serial excision surgery to remove a very large mole from the patient’s eyebrow.
The patient had been born with a mole on her eyebrow. This large congenital mole was very noticeable and was affecting her confidence.
Serial Excision
With very large moles, Cosmedics Skin Clinics doctors and surgeons tend to carry out serial excision. This means that the procedure is carried out over 2 sessions for best results, because the mole is too big to remove in one go.
- Initial mole removal session targeting the primary area
- Secondary procedure after initial healing. This takes place 6-9 months later to reduce it still further for optimum results after full healing.
Advantages of a ‘serial excision’ approach include:
- Smaller scar compared to carrying out a single large procedure
- Allows time for the skin to heal and relax before doing a second refinement
- Minimises distortion to the surrounding areas

Dr Ross Perry
Ross qualified at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School in 1994. His career includes NHS skin cancer reconstruction, work as a GP, as well as private cosmetic skin treatments.
He established Cosmedics Skin Clinics in 2003 and remains in charge as Medical Director. He is best known for dealing with unwanted skin lesions and blemishes (e.g. moles, cysts, warts skin tags) and natural-looking use of non-surgical cosmetic injections (BOTOX® Anti-Wrinkle Injections and Facial Fillers).
