“I’m Alex Von Roon. I’m a consultant colorectal surgeon with over 15 years of experience in treating haemorrhoids or piles.
“We offer a wide range of treatments for haemorrhoids here at Cosmedics. The main three are radio frequency ablation, also known as the Raphaelo procedure; rubber band ligation and injection sclerotherapy.
“These procedures are being done on a sensitive part of the body, but we can perform them with a minimum of discomfort to the patient. With some we use local anaesthetic, with others that’s not even necessary.”

Mr Von Roon continues:
“We aim to offer a service here at Cosmedics where you can have the treatment on the day if you wish and it’s a walk-in walk-out service. Other people like to take some time to decide whether the treatment is right for them, in which case we make a separate appointment.
“On the day of the procedure you’ll be met by our friendly reception staff and then come through to our treatment room where the treatment is performed usually in about 15 to 20 minutes. We then make sure that you recover nicely afterwards for about 15 minutes and then you’re able to go home again and most people are back at work the following day.
“You can go back to more strenuous activities like sport after three or four days and there are no restrictions in terms of lifestyle afterwards.
“People are really happy with the outcome of their treatment here and what they value in particular is having expert assessment and being treated on the day in a ‘walk-in walk out’ fashion.
“The majority of them say they wish they just had it done earlier.”
