Excessive Sweating Problems

botox injectionHyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, causes parts of the body to sweat beyond normal physiological need. The hands, feet, armpits and face can all be affected, and cause the sufferer great embarrassment.

Of course sweating is a natural process, but every year we spend millions of pounds on covering this up. We disguise our natural smells, and avoid embarrassing sweat patches at all costs.

Sufferers of hyperhidrosis cannot stop this process with deodorants or antiperspirants. The disorder has a significant impact on their lives, on both an emotional and social level. The amount of sweat produced may differ from person to person, but the sweating always occurs without the effect of extraneous factors.

You see, sufferers may experience little anxiety, and even forgo strenuous activity – yet they’ll still produce an excess amount of sweat. This can cause great distress, and a myriad of social complications.

Imagine you’re on a first date. You’re a little nervous, but more excited than anything else. You meet up with your date at a restaurant, and go to shake their hand. In just those first few minutes, that person will have assumed you must be incredibly anxious. Not only may they put off by the supposed anxiety, but the sight of sweat is generally perceived as unattractive.

Or perhaps you’re going for a job interview. Again, this is an anxiety-ridden scenario in which most of us will display nervousness, but there’s no relief for sufferers of hyperhidrosis. Not only do employers see anxiety as a sign of weakness, but you may feel so embarrassed that you cannot concentrate on the questions being asked of you.

Whatever the scenario, the problems caused by excess sweating are manifold.

As yet, there is no permanent cure for hyperhidrosis, but Botulinum Toxin (or Botox) injections can help. In fact, the armpits are very easily treated. Small injections are made under the skin, to stop the nerves in the skin from working. These nerves control the sweat glands, and cause them to produce excess sweat – stop the nerves, and you temporarily stop excess sweating.

The results can last for between 4 to 12 months, and can be repeated for maximum results.

You don’t need to suffer from hyperhidrosis – seek help, and discover a new you.
