After having Bells Palsy, our patient was keen to restore and refresh her face. Dr Ross Perry at Cosmedics Skin Clinics used BOTOX® wrinkle relaxing injections as well as the latest advanced dermal fillers to soften the facial lines and revolumise the face with dramatic results.

The stunning before and after photographs show a big improvement that left the patient looking years younger and feeling much happier and more confident about her appearance.

Bells Palsy Before And After BOTOX + Fillers

Treatment story

Dr Ross Perry, who treated the patient, explains how her treatment evolved over a number of years:

“She suffered with Bells Palsy about 20 years ago which left her left side of her face unable to move and paralysed. This meant the skin lost its volume and with the passing of time the right side then began to look more weathered compared with left side.”

Initially the patient was treated with Botox and fillers every 1-2 years.

However, the before and after photos show the results of a more intensive treatment where Dr Perry and the patient decided to ‘go for it’.

Dr Perry continues:

“We used the latest newer fillers (Juvederm and Voluma) that allow more subtle facial volumisation.

“We treated the frown, temples, cheeks, lips and chin.

“Some soft Botox into the frown forehead crows feet and around the lower jaw to help with the jowls.

The results show:

  • Reduction in deep lines on the forehead
  • Fresher and more open eyes
  • Softer nose to mouth lines
  • Fuller lips
  • Softer cheeks
  • More symmetry in general

Ross continued:

“She is absolutely delighted and said she is now wearing lipstick for the first time in 20 years….

“Friends cant believe the difference as she looks so well.”

What is Bell’s Palsy?

Bell’s palsy is temporary weakness or lack of movement affecting 1 side of the face. It can look as if a person has had a stroke, as it leaves the face looking somewhat different, but it is not the same. Bell’s palsy is due to compression of the 7th cranial nerve, which causes facial weakness or paralysis. It is thought by many to be triggered by a viral infection although the exact cause of the nerve damage is unknown.

Initially, this makes half of the face appear to droop. Patients can have a lop-sided smile and eye.

The paralysis is not considered permanent and patients usually start to recover within 6 months. Most will recover full facial strength and expression eventually, but the experience can be ageing.

Non-surgical injectable treatments can be used to improve the facial aesthetics, addressing balance and symmetry as well as signs of ageing.

Dr Ross Perry offers a range of treatments in a choice of London clinics – Harley Street, Putney and City of London. There is also a clinic based in Bristol (Clifton area) which offers Botox, dermal fillers and other cosmetically enhancing procedures.

Non-Surgical Treatments

Injectable treatments are a very effective way of rejuvenating the appearance of the face. The team at Cosmedics offers a range of popular non-surgical treatments. Options to consider include:
