American model, actress, and socialite Blac Chyna (born Angela Renée White), is in the news after sharing her journey to get rid of her aesthetic treatments.

She joins a growing number of celebrities who are toning down the use of injectable treatments. Pamela Anderson, Paris Hilton, Courtney Cox, Victoria Beckham and Khloe Kardashian have all had fillers reversed as they try to go back to a more natural look.

She has legally changed her name back, even though her social media still remains in the name of Blac Chyna. She says:

“I feel like it’s time for a change. I’m ready to get back to Angela.”

Hyaluronic Acid Injection Reversal

Blac Chyna’s facial filler in the lips, jaw and cheeks. These were reversed using hyaluronidase, which breaks down hyaluronic acid in order to dissolve the filler injections.

The procedure is relatively straightforward and essentially speeds up the body’s metabolism of the filler product.

Silicone Injection Removal

Removal of buttock injections is a more complex issue. Blac Chyna had received injections into her buttocks to enhance the contours at the age of 19 with an unlicensed practitioner. She says the area got ‘super inflamed, really hard, and really hot. She says:

“It was very scary. They’re giving whatever substance that they’re doing and giving it to you. They’re not gonna tell you, “Hey, you know, you could possibly die.”‘

She has issued a warning to her fans about the dangers of silicone:

“By the way, [butt] shots and a BBL are totally different. A BBL is when they use your own fat, [butt] shots are silicone. So I just want all the ladies out there to know: do not get silicone shots.”

Blac Chyna claimed she lost 10lbs through removal of the buttock filler in an 8 hour procedure in Hollywood. She told Access:

“You know how many CCs [cubic centimeters] I took out? 1,250 CCs. A two-liter Coke bottle all in my booty!”

Hello magazine asked Dr Ross Perry, GP, Aesthetic Doctor and founder of Cosmedics Skin Clinics, to explain more. He told Hello:

“Silicone injections are the worst treatment of the above. Poor results, scarring, granuloma and cyst formations and pain.

“Surgery to remove is the only option. It is also risky due to chances of infection, bleeding and will often leave an irregular contour, potentially months of pain.

“A BBL in any form is a high risk procedure whether done with fat injections, fillers injections or silicone implants. The main risk is an embolus or clot going into the bloodstream and causing a stroke or heart attack. Other major risks are necrosis of the skin (ie skin death) infection, irregularity, chronic pain to name a few.”

Breast Reduction

In addition to reversal of fillers and removal of buttock augmentation silicone, Chyna has also had breast reduction surgery. Including previous augmentations, this was the fifth time she’d had work done on her chest. She says:

“I’m past that stage, I’ve been there done that.”

Dr Ross Perry told Hello magazine:

“Breast reduction is a common procedure done where the breasts are pendulous or heavy, causing neck and or back pain or aesthetically too uncomfortable. It is done under general anaesthetic and the amount of tissue removed is discussed at the consultation to achieve the best outcome.”
